Art Lester
Writer and Speaker
Internationally recognised
as a writer, speaker and facilitator, Art Lester’s
experience working in many countries has given him rare
insight into cultural differences in general and problems
of the so-called “Third World” in particular.
For the past eleven years he has written a column in
The Inquirer, the oldest non-conformist religious
journal in Britain, entitled Downside Up. Other
articles and stories, on this and other themes, have
been widely published.
Born in the USA, Art Lester
has spent much of his life abroad. After working for
many years in Africa and Latin America, he returned
to the United Kingdom, qualified as a counsellor and
entered the Unitarian ministry. In 2001 he retired from
his full-time post as minister of Essex Church, London.
Since then he has returned to his small village in Spain
and devoted himself to writing. His most recent book,
Seeing with Your Ears: Spirituality for Those Who
Can’t Believe, won first prize in the
Writer’s Digest International Self-Published Book
Awards. This and other publications are listed
